Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Programme Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of programmes and projects that promote transboundary cooperation and collaboration among countries in the region. The role will involve working closely with government agencies, international organizations, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for cooperation and develop strategies for implementing joint programmes and projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of programmes and projects that promote transboundary cooperation and collaboration among countries in the region.
  • Work closely with government agencies, international organizations, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for cooperation and develop strategies for implementing joint programmes and projects.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify best practices and lessons learned in transboundary cooperation and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, international organizations, and other partners.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to programme and project teams as needed.
  • Collaborate with other teams to develop and implement programme and project plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate programme and project progress and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and manage programme and project budgets and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as international relations, political science, or environmental studies.
  • At least 3 years of experience in programme management, project management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of transboundary cooperation and collaboration principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required.
  • Ability to travel frequently within the region.
