We help children of all backgrounds, even in the most dangerous places, inspired by our Christian faith.</p><p></p><p>Come join our 31,000&#43; staff working in nearly 100 countries and share the joy of transforming vulnerable children’s life stories!</p><p></p><p><u>Key Responsibilities:</u></p><p><span>The AU Advocacy and External Engagement Graduate Intern will undertake administrative tasks, research, planning, note-taking, and policy analysis, supporting the objectives outlined in the MoU between World Vision and the African Union (AU), and aligned with the AU Liaison Office Partnership Strategy. The intern&#39;s role encompasses contributing to four key Advocacy and External Engagement Outcomes, including ensuring no child is left behind through the 2030 Agenda and SDGs, supporting campaigns to end child hunger, malnutrition, and violence against children, prioritizing children&#39;s rights in humanitarian responses, and aligning with relevant AU frameworks. Moreover, the intern will engage in a structured learning component, participating in training, workshops, and mentorship programs to enhance their advocacy and external engagement skills while contributing to the organization&#39;s mission and their own professional development.</span></p><p></p><p><b><u>Major Responsibilities</u></b></p><p>Monitor and Report on various AU engagements and events that relate the work of the AULO.</p><ul><li><p>Schedule, send the agenda and take meeting notes during meetings organized by the office or in meetings where the AULO participates in</p></li><li><p>Update the event tracker and partners contact list</p></li><li><p>File and organize all AULO Advocacy documents in Box</p></li><li><p>Draft the quarterly engagement report including people reached, children reached and policy changes</p></li><li><p>Update the key events AU events and moments in line with the AU calendar</p></li></ul><p></p><p>Research and Analysis</p><ul><li><p>Draft 4 policy briefs or other papers or articles (one per quarter)</p></li><li><p>Update the AULO statistics table quarter</p></li></ul><p></p><p>Networking and External Engagement</p><ul><li><p>Participate and learn from the monthly Working Groups e.g. Regional Protection WG, Regional GBV WG, Inter-Agency (IAWG) Working Group – Advocacy and Communications</p></li></ul><p><br />Administrative Support, Planning and Reporting</p><ul><li><p>Support the drafting and monitoring of budget, agenda and logistics *where necessary)</p></li><li><p>Provide support for external meetings, workshops, launches, conferences or forums</p></li><li><p>Document relevant documents on a shared drive</p></li><li><p>Ensure office is clean at all times (supervise the work of office cleaners)</p></li><li><p>Ensure visitors are well received and all follow ups documented</p></li></ul><p><br />Communication</p><ul><li><p>Support Regions and Countries to identify opportunities for child and youth engagement</p></li><li><p>Update and manage the AULO social media platforms by posting relevant events. Track WV mentions especially on Twitter</p></li><li><p>Support children’s participation in AULO Advocacy events in line with child safeguarding principlesULO statistics table quarterly</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><u>KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE </u></b></p><p><b>Required Professional Experience</b></p><ul><li><p>1 to 2 years of experience in advocacy, external engagement, campaigns or policy analysis work in developing countries is an added advantage.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge on Child Rights including the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child or the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.</p></li><li><p>Experience planning and organizing workshops or forums for participants in multiple countries.</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, particularly in a cross-cultural environment</p></li><li><p>Planning and organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple activities Research experience especially in policy and advocacy</p></li><li><p>Understanding of humanitarian and fragile contexts</p></li><li><p>Good understanding of the AU will be an added value</p></li></ul><p><b>Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification</b></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor&#39;s degree in social sciences, communication, public policy, management or law</p></li><li><p>Training certificate on advocacy, child rights and policy influence, an added advantage</p></li><li><p>Graduated within the last 2 years.</p></li></ul><p><b>Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications</b></p><ul><li><p>Capabilities – achieving, thinking, self-managing, relational, networking and collaboration and humanitarian diplomacy.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement</b></p><ul><li><p>Very minimal travel Physical Requirements</p></li></ul><p><b>Language :</b></p><ul><li><p>Excellent written and communications skills in English.</p></li><li><p>Any AU official language will be an added advantage</p></li></ul><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><u>Applicant Types Accepted:</u></p>Local Applicants Only<br /><br /><p><i>World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organisation with a mission centred on following Jesus Christ in service to the world´s most vulnerable children.
