- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee grievances, disciplinary proceedings, and conflict resolution, ensuring fair and consistent application of HR policies.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, industry regulations, occupational health & safety (OHS) requirements, and internal policies relevant to a manufacturing environment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable employment legislation and advise management on regulatory changes.
- Manage disciplinary and dismissal procedures in line with legal requirements and company policy.
- Conduct employee investigations, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Partner with line supervisors and shift managers to promote a positive, respectful workplace culture.
- Coordinate end-to-end payroll processing in collaboration with the Finance team, ensuring accuracy and timely payment for all staff, including shift workers and contract employees.
- Maintain and update payroll records; overtime, shift allowances, deductions, statutory contributions (NSSF, PAYE, etc.).
- Manage employee benefits administration, including health cover, leave entitlements, and other statutory benefits.
- Assist in salary bench-marking exercises and compensation reviews to ensure market competitiveness.
- Resolve payroll-related queries from employees promptly and accurately.
- Conduct Training Needs Assessments (TNAs) in partnership with departmental heads to identify skills gaps across production, quality, and support functions.
- Design, coordinate, and evaluate training programs including safety inductions, technical skills training, and leadership development.
- Maintain training records and ensure compliance with mandatory certification requirements (e.g., safety, equipment handling).
- Support on-boarding and orientation programs for new hires across all levels.
- Track and report on learning and development KPIs, including training hours, completion rates, and post-training performance.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR databases.
- Prepare HR reports and analytics (headcount, turnover, absenteeism, training hours) for management review.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing HR policies and procedures.
- Coordinate performance appraisal cycles and guideline managers on the process.
- Bachelor's degree in human resource management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial, or FMCG environment.
- Demonstrable experience managing employee relations cases and conducting disciplinary hearings.
- Hands-on experience with payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing training and development programs.
- Strong working knowledge of labor law and statutory compliance requirements.
- Solid MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
