We are currently looking for a Pastry Chef to join our team in Malawi. The role will be responsible for creating and delivering high-quality pastries and baked products daily, supported by a skilled and dedicated team. Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a variety of breads, pastries, desserts, cakes, and other baked goods.
- Ensure all pastry products are consistently produced to the highest quality standards.
- Follow standardized recipes, portion controls, and presentation guidelines.
- Monitor stock levels, ingredient quality, and production requirements.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
- Minimize waste and manage resources efficiently.
- Support the training and development of kitchen staff where required.
- Ensure all equipment is operated safely and maintained in good working condition.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong pastry, baking, and dessert preparation skills with knowledge of international pastry standards.
- Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, HACCP, and quality control procedures.
- Strong planning, organisation, and time management skills to meet production schedules.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality products consistently.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a remote camp environment.
Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12 Baking or culinary qualification (advantageous)
- Minimum 2 - 3 years experience as a Baker in a similar environment
