The Forests & Climate Leaders’ Partnership (FCLP)

The Forests & Climate Leaders’ Partnership (FCLP) was launched by world leaders at COP27 and aims to accelerate global progress to halt and reverse forest loss and land degradation by 2030 while delivering sustainable development and promoting an inclusive rural transformation, through a voluntary and focussed partnership of countries that are making a strong contribution to this agenda through national action and international collaboration.

Role Purpose

The Policy Lead, Integrated Fire Management (IFM) will coordinate and strengthen FCLP’s collective action on Integrated Fire Management (IFM). This work is led by Kenya and Peru within the Partnership, with a working group of members interested in exchanging and collaborating on the issue. The role will support members in delivering the 2026 workplan of the IFM workstream and coordinate alignment across policy, partnerships and events.

Functions / Key Results Expected

• Strategic and Policy Leadership

• Provide policy expertise and guidance to support FCLP members’ ambitions and commitments related to IFM
• Provide technical expertise on key national and international policies to inform members’ collective and individual decisions.
• Develop high-quality technical documents, briefings, and analysis as requested by members to support informed action and policy coherence.
• Support the development, review, and delivery of annual workplans, ensuring alignment with FCLP priorities and governance principles.

• Coordination and Delivery

• Coordinate member engagement and collaboration across the FCLP membership at the workstream level, ensuring clarity of roles and effective delivery of collective priorities.
• Facilitate and enable delivery of workplan activities in line with FCLP governance principles.
• Ensure alignment between IFM work and other FCLP functions, including Strategic Communications, Members Engagement and Governance.

• Partnerships and Inclusive Engagement

• Coordinating collaboration among members, civil society and technical partners to drive collective action.
• Foster and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders - including the Global Fire Hub - to advance shared objectives.
• Ensure equitable participation and engagement across the FCLP membership.

• Events and Representation

• Coordinate FCLP participation in major events and global convenings as it relates to IFM (e.g. UNFCCC COPs, UNGA, COFO etc).
• Support FCLP members and partners in developing joint messaging, materials, and communication opportunities related to IFM.

• Monitoring and Progress Controls

• A work plan will be developed based on the UNOPS PER cycle and serve as the overarching document to monitor progress and record performance.
