Then this Programme Officer position might be for you.

About the job

As Programme Officer, you will be part of the Kvinna till Kvinna MENA programme team and report to the Beirut Country Director. You will work closely with the Programme Managers covering Palestine and Syria, as well as with colleagues across the wider regional team.

The role focuses on supporting the implementation of Women, Peace and Security (WPS) programming in Palestine and Syria in accordance with Kvinna till Kvinna’s mandate, operational plans, policies and working methods.

The position furthermore requires regular collaboration with women’s rights organisations, civil society actors, INGOs, UN agencies and donors in the region.

Travel within the Middle East and Europe is required.

Your tasks will include, but not be limited to:

  • Support partner organisations throughout the project cycle, including planning, budgeting, reporting and ongoing WPS-related guidance;
  • Monitor programme implementation to ensure alignment with objectives, timelines, donor requirements and Kvinna till Kvinna policies;
  • Support partner capacity development through trainings, networking and exchange activities;
  • Prepare programme reports, political analyses and maintain accurate programme documentation and filing systems;
  • Coordinate and collaborate with civil society organisations, INGOs, UN agencies and donors working on Women, Peace and Security;
  • Support logistical and administrative arrangements related to programme activities and events.

About you

To be successful in this role, we believe you are collaborative, organised and solutions-oriented. You are able to balance attention to detail with a strategic perspective and can work independently while maintaining strong coordination with colleagues and partners.

You have excellent communication and relationship-building skills and are comfortable working in complex political and operational environments. You are flexible, proactive and committed to feminist principles and women’s rights.

You need to at least have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights, Gender Studies, Social Sciences or another relevant field, or a minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience;
  • Proven experience working with Women, Peace and Security (WPS) programming;
  • Demonstrated experience leading advocacy campaigns and/or managing advocacy-focused projects;
  • At least seven years of professional experience designing, managing and implementing development or human rights projects, with proven experience in project cycle management, including planning, monitoring and evaluation;
  • Strong understanding of the political and development context in Syria, Palestine and the wider MENA region;
  • Experience working collaboratively with local civil society organisations, coalitions, UN agencies, international NGOs and donors;
  • Excellent written and spoken Arabic and English; French is considered an asset;
  • Ability to travel regularly within the Middle East (including Palestine) and Europe.
