What you'll do:

• Perform comprehensive dog grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, trimming, and styling according to breed standards and client specifications.
• Utilise hand tools and electric grooming equipment proficiently to clip and trim coats, ensuring animal comfort and safety.
• Attend to nail trimming and grinding, and clean ears, eyes, and teeth where necessary, maintaining high standards of animal care.
• Safely de-mat and detangle coats, minimising stress and discomfort to the animal throughout the grooming process.
• Administer flea, tick, or other medicated treatments appropriately, adhering to scope of practice and health regulations.
• Handle all animals with calmness and gentleness, including those that are anxious or uncooperative, ensuring welfare and safety at all times.
• Identify, document, and communicate any visible signs of skin conditions, parasites, or injuries to pet owners promptly.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organised grooming environment, including sanitation of tools and workstations, to comply with workplace health and safety standards.
• Consult with pet owners to understand grooming preferences and special care requirements, offering expert advice on coat maintenance and care routines.
• Accurately maintain records of grooming services, pet behaviour, and any treatments administered, supporting customer service excellence.

What you bring:

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Completion of a recognised dog grooming course is preferred.
• Minimum of one year's experience as a dog groomer or in a comparable role is essential.
• Practical knowledge of various dog breeds, coat types, and suitable grooming techniques is required.
• Demonstrated experience handling dogs of different sizes, temperaments, and behavioural characteristics is essential.
• Genuine passion for animals, with prior exposure to pet services, pet care, pet products, or animal-oriented services or sales.
• Experience within a retail or service-oriented store environment is advantageous.
